THE HOUSES OF HOPE - HELPING OUR YOUTH

What are the Houses of Hope

They are two houses that have so far welcomed more than 250 of our adolescents in difficulty. These kids are between 12 and 18 years old and have been sent to us by the youth protection bureau.  Because these Houses of Hope have been available, we have avoided the placement of innocent youth in detention centres.

There are 3 Houses of Hope in Brome-Mississiquoi, one for English, one for French clientele, and the third is a bilingual home for generally older residents in their late teens. The main objective is to house our youth in a healthy and secure environment. By supporting their constructive endeavours, these Houses of Hope bring faith of a better world to our youth.

The Houses of Hope allow our young adolescents to continue to follow their studies, which for many would be otherwise impossible.

These two Houses of Hope have been provided since 1999 by the Brome Mississiquoi Youth Foundation.

The Houses of Hope provide incentive and a starting point for our young adolescents in difficulty to build a better future. We must not forget that these youth are our fellow adult citizens of tomorrow.

Like all youth they need to be heard, and they need love, relief, and comfort. These needs are met in the Houses of Hope, where they are given a warm environment to foster the development of a good life.

These Houses of Hope would not continue to exist without the Brome Mississiquoi Youth Foundation and your financial support of the Foundation.

It is for these reasons that we are turning to you for financial support, so that the work of the Brome Mississiquoi Youth Foundation may continue and it can increase programs to sustain more of our many youth in difficulty.

We are appealing for your support in our efforts by your generous donations during our financial campaign.

Rest assured that all funds raised will be used only for the well-being or our youth at risk and to maintain the Houses of Hope.

The Board of Directors of the Brome Mississiquoi Youth Foundation expresses a heartfelt “Thank you!” in the name of our youth—our hope for tomorrow.

The Foundation:

Brome-Missisquoi Youth Foundation – Helping Kids in Need

The Brome-Missisquoi Youth foundation was formed in 1998 with the express purpose of assisting youth placed in group homes in the Brome-Missisquoi area. In the intervening years, through the efforts of the volunteer directors, the Foundation has funded the construction of three new homes in Cowansville, one each for French and English youngsters and a third bilingual home for slightly older teen aged residents. The building of these Houses of Hope has been possible largely through the efforts of the volunteers of the Foundation and funding provided by the estate of a local resident. The English group home is the only such facility offering services in the entire Monterègie, a large area that encompasses the territory on the south shore from the Ontario border east to Drummondville and south to the US border.

The Foundation is a duly constituted charitable organization and having accomplished the goal of providing quality housing now intends to raise funds to assist its young clients in other ways. The Foundation’s funding goals aim at providing:

·       Scholarship funds for trade and academic courses for youth at risk.

·       A bank of volunteer and/or paid teachers to assist students with difficulties.

·       A program to assist adolescent and parent communication.

·       Supervised apartments for youth ages 18-21 who have no other options

·       Assistance to adolescent parents

Children and young adults living in the group homes are placed there under the aegis of the Youth Protection Directorate of Quebec. This government body provides funding to meet basic needs such as food, clothing and nurture by caring personnel. The young residents of our homes deserve more and it is the hope of the Foundation that the population will assist by participating in our fundraising campaigns. When you are contacted, please be generous and donate according to your means. Help us to enrich the lives of the deserving young people living in our Houses of Hope.
